Tigres de Quintana Roo is a Mexican League baseball team based in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Tigres (Tigers) were born in Mexico City in 1955 and participated in the Mexican League under the name Tigres Capitalinos. After 46 years of playing in the Capital City and 8 championships, they moved to the city of Puebla under the name Tigres de la Angelópolis, where they obtained their ninth title. Currently they are based in Cancun. Tigres are the second top team in regards to titles with a total of 11 (1955, 1960, 1965, 1966, 1992, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2011, 2013).
They were reigned champions in 2013 after winning the series against Sultanes de Monterrey 4 games to 1, thereby obtaining the eleventh crown for the felines.
Among the most outstanding players in the team´s history are: Pablo Ortega, Carlos Alberto Gastélum, Aurelio Rodríguez, Roberto “Beto” Ávila, Sergio Robles, among others.
Their mascot is named “Chacho” and is considered the most liked among fans. Its number, 1 3/8, has a special meaning. The number 1 means the top mascot in the league, the 3 means that it comes out at the start of the third inning, and the 8 means that it goes back inside at the bottom of the eighth.
