The boy from Santa Clara (Cuba) that has everyone aware, is Joseph D. Fernandez. Fernandez is professional Major League Baseball (MLB) player that at 21 years shows a very powerful right hand.
Fernandez made three attempts to escape the Castro regime before fleeing with success in 2008. He enrolled at Braulio Alonso High School in Tampa, Florida, and was selected by the Marlins in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Fernandez made his major league debut with the Marlins on April 7, 2013.
He is branded as temperamental, but his numbers indicate a great future ahead if he can control his temper. Fernandez averaged 12-6 and 2.19 ERA, the second best of all the majors behind Clayton Kershaw.
Fernandez has already won the following awards:
ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
