Paradoxically to the economic reality that is living Venezuela, characterized by scarcity, shortage and high cost of living, the citizens of this country are among the happiest in the world.

The most recent study by the Happy Planet Index (Happy Planet Index, HPI) assessed the happiness of 151 countries. How did it? By measuring aspects such as welfare, efficiency and life expectancy.

"The new results show the extent to which 151 countries around the world produce a long, happy and sustainable life for people who live in them," explain the authors of the report.

The paper exhibits good news for Latin America. The results show that Costa Rica is ranked first. Second Vietnam and Colombia is ranked third placed.

Meanwhile, the United States ranks 104, Germany 46 and France at 50. For its part, Argentina is ranked 17th on the list, Chile 19, 21 Mexico and Brazil 22.

These results, which are controversial- do not vary much compared to those published in recent years.

The 10 happiest countries in the world are:

1) Costa Rica

2) Vietnam

3) Colombia

4) Belice

5) El Salvador

6) Jamaica

7) Panamá

8) Nicaragua

9) Venezuela

10) Guatemala
