Venezuelan students were finalists in competition from Microsoft

Food&Gram Project from Universidad de los Andes (known in Spanish ULA) won a ticket to the final round at 2014 Imagine Cup organized by Microsoft. The project is in the top 10 at Innovation category, among 171 teams of 76 countries from all over the world.   

The team formed by Jefferson Licet and Alfonso Mora, under the tutelage of Eliel Aguilera, was recognized during the competition 2014 Imagine Cup. This project consist of an mobile app to Windows Phone platform, which is looking for to teach the user to have a very healthy lifestyle by counting calories trough an algorism recognized by a photo. 

Food&Gram classified for the semifinal round last April at Innovation category with projects from Universidad Central de Venezuela Warriors team, Fighters team and UCVassists team which competed in Videogames and Citizenship categories. 

"It is pride for us to represent our University and our country at the final round of Imagine Cup. This achievement demonstrates the Venezuelan’s capacities to develop creative and innovative solutions and how the constancy and the hard work can make dreams come true", said Licet and Mora after being told about the classification.

During the semifinal round, another Venezuelan team won the first place in Windows & Windows Phone category with an app called Pomato App from Universidad Santa Rosa. The team formed by Luis Carlos Silvera, Rubia Sánchez and Alexis Chirinos develop an app which help to the users to have a direct line of communication with the social security bodies, based on the GPS localization. 

"To try to explain how we felt after this triumph at the Imagine Cup is really hard. We are totally satisfied with this award. We are grateful for all the people who believed in us, Microsoft in particular. Go Venezuela!" said the enthusiastic students.

The Imagine Cup will be held in Seattle, United States, from July 29th to August 2nd. In this competition Food&Gram will be competing with their worldwide peers for $ 50.000 award.
