Venezuela will be competing at Cinémas du Monde in Cannes

The brazilian filmmaker Walter Salles will be leading the  Pavillon des cinémas du monde" -a Cannes department which is a work platform dedicated to help young filmmakers with movie projects from all over the world integrated by artists, movie professionals and film institutions-. In this Canne's section are projects from Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba.

"My true wish is to share all my ideas with the youngest talent coming from different places and cultures to do their first film project", Salles said, who was "Central do Brasil" director, movie awarded with the Golden Bear for the best film at Berlin Film Festival on 1998. 

For the 67th edition of Cannes Film Festival, from 14 to 25 May, the "Pavillion des cinémas du monde" selected 10 movie projects. "La Familia" is a Gustavo Rondón Córdova's movie from Venezuela, selected by this department of Cannes, about a father who wants to protect his son from a incidental murder. "All the dead one" - made by Caetano Gotardo and Marco Dutra from Brazil- and "Agosto" -a cuban movie made by Armando Capó- were selected by this departmen to compete too.

Both Venezuela and Cuba are participating for the first time in this section of Cannes Film Festival, which includes projects from South Africa, Algeria, Bangladesh and Syria.  

"Nothing is more gratifiyng to me to keep getting news, projects and different and original ideas from young filmmakers from all over the world", Salles said. In addition to agreeing to be the person who will be leading "Pavillon des cinémas du monde", Salles will be giving a master class for filmmakers and producers selected on 16 May .
