Venezuela U-17 WNT to play friendly against Colombia

The Under-17 Women’s National Team of Venezuela does not rest in its pledge to have a remarkable participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica, to which Venezuela arrives as champion of South America.

The athletes will travel on Friday to Colombia, where they will play two friendlies, authorized by CONMEBOL, with its fellow country on 18th and 20th February at the General Santander Stadium in Cucuta city. The Colombians will have also faced Costa Rica, Venezuela's first opponent in the World Cup.

On its return to the country, Venezuelan girls will travel to Mexico, from 25th February to 2nd March, where they will be playing two friendlies with Mexico U-17 WNT on 26th February and 1st March.

Venezuela will play the first phase of the World Cup in the Group A, with the host, Costa Rica, besides Zambia and Italy.

Its upcoming opponents in the way to the World Cup belong to the Group D, composed by: Mexico, Colombia, People's Republic of China and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the scorer Gabriela Garcia is in optimal recovery from an operation of an inguinal hernia last January.

Garcia is working on the preparation module, which takes place at Yaracuy state. She is expected to be in her 100% for the global soccer competition.
