The Canadians men's 4x100-metre relay team raced to a bronze medal at the world track and field championships after the United States was disqualified on Saturday.

The team of Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, Andre De Grasse and Justyn Warner, running the anchor leg, raced to third place with a time of 38.13 seconds.

Usain Bolt and the Jamaicans won gold, and the host Chinese shocked the field by taking silver. It was Bolt's third gold medal of the meet.

The U.S. looked to finish in second, but were disqualified for an illegal baton exchange.

Rodney was a last-minute replacement on the Canadian team, running in place of an injured Gavin Smellie. Canada's men's relay team has struggled lately with a few disqualifications at big meets.

But this time, they benefitted from another team's mistake.
