Usain Bolt and Cuban Yarisley Silva Win AIPS Award

World sprint champion Usain Bolt is ending the year with another award for his achievements in 2015.

The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) America (grouping of Latin American Sports Journalists) has named the Jamaican speedster as its Male Athlete of the Year, along with Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva Rodriguez who was recognised as the Female Athlete of the Year.

This is the third such award for Bolt after the ones in 2012 and 2013.

Bolt sucesfully defended his title at the IAAF in Beijing las August while Silva won the pole vault gold medal at the Panamerican Games.

Bolt was followed by Lionel Messi and Silva was escorted by Colombiana Catherine Ibargüen.

AIPS selected the Chilean national football team as the best in 2015 and the media center at the Panamerican Games in Toronto as the best of this year.
