T&T’s Nero dominates in Guyana

Tonya Nero dominated her rivals in the IAAF South American 10K, in Georgetown, Guyana, on Sunday.

Nero won the women’s race in 37 minutes, 36 seconds, the Trinidad and Tobago runner finishing well ahead of Guyana’s Euleen Josiah-Tanner, the runner-up in 39:03. Two other Guyanese, Alika Morgan (40:06) and Andrea Foster (40:23) were third and fourth, respectively, while fifth spot went to T&T’s Jenelle Nedd, who clocked 41:22.
Guyana’s Cleveland Forde produced a 32:28 run to capture the men’s title. T&T’s Richard Jones finished second in 32:40, forcing Guyanese Cleveland Thomas (32:57) to settle for third spot.
