Licey Tigers or Tigers of Licey as translated into English was founded in 1907.

There are discrepancies as to what month the team was founded, some sports historians speak of July while others say it was on November 7th, 1907, which is also backed up by the team itself. This team has been forever present in all the stages of Dominican baseball.

The teams initial players were Tulio H. Pina, Federico Fiallo, Arturo Perdomo, Horacio Abreu, Pericles Cuello, Miguel Ibañez, Arturo Paz, Liquito Sanlley, Luis Castillo, Tulio Golibart y Manuel Grullón.

Among their list of sports history, Alonzo Perry, Guayubin Olivo, Manuel Mota, Pascual Perez, José Rijo, Tony "Cabeza" (Head) Fernández, Teodoro Martínez, and Rafael Landestoy are remembered as great team leaders.

Tom La Sorda was Manager for the Tigers of Licey from 1972 - 1976.

Tigers of Licey have won 22 out of 48 Championships and 10 out of 19 Caribbean Series.
