Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has eclipsed 2 million votes and appears to be a shoo-in to start at first base in the All-Star Game, according to the latest fan-voting figures released Monday.

Cabrera (2,030,000 votes) only trails Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista (2,906,878) and Angels’ Mike Trout (2,544,658) among top vote-getters in the American League. The eight-time All Star was voted in as the AL starting third baseman last season.

The All-Star Game is July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (2,593,387) and Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (2,003,557) lead the National League in fan voting.

Cabrera’s teammate Ian Kinsler (1,117,345) is mounting a strong challenge to frontrunner Mariners’ Robinson Cano (1,513,052) to start at second base.

Tigers’ Victor Martinez (1,101,028) is third behind Orioles’s Nelson Cruz (1,792,432) and Red Sox’s David Ortiz (1,316,921) in the race to be AL’s starting DH. Torii Hunter (834,218) is ninth in balloting among AL outfielders.
