Startup Open House Features Innovative Companies in Canada

Posted by PanamericanWorld on September 22, 2016

Job seekers, competitors, and curious members of the public now have the chance to peek inside startup offices in four major Canadian cities. Since 2013, Startup Open House has been hosting annual events where startups in a variety of Canadian cities open their doors to give tours, answer questions and—if you’re lucky—offer drinks and games.

In 2016, events are taking place in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Waterloo. Several hundred startups are participating, and thousands of attendees are expected. The event is a great opportunity to network, learn more about local businesses and find employment opportunities. Tickets are available on the Startup Open House website.

The Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver events are all taking place this week on September 22nd, from 3pm until 8pm.

Montreal

The largest event is in Montreal. Over 130 startups are taking part, ranging from co-working spaces and design firms to office plant delivery and cricket-based energy bars. Make sure you stop by Busbud, which facilitates booking bus travel in over 10,000 cities. The founder, LP Maurice, is also the man behind Startup Open House. Frank + Oak, the Canadian menswear brand, also deserves a stop.

Toronto

If you’re attending the Toronto event, don’t miss Borrowell. They offer free credit score checks and personal loans of up to $35,000. And if you’re interested in photography, pay a visit to 500px. The online photography community offers stock images for brands, and pays photographers who upload their photos.

Vancouver

The epicentre of the Vancouver event is downtown, including businesses in Chinatown, Gastown and Yaletown.
