São Paulo goalkeeper Rogério Ceni scores 120th career goal

When it comes to Rogerio Ceni, the footballing world has a lot to be thankful for. It is he who is almost single-handedly keeping one of the game's oldest traditions alive: that of the South American goalkeeper/set-piece specialist.

With Paraguayan innovator Jose Chilavert long since retired, it is veteran Sao Paulo's Ceni who seemingly carries the torch for goalscoring goalies alone these days.

Indeed, Ceni scored his 120th career goal (just think about that for a second!) on Sunday evening, opening the scoring in Sao Paulo's 2-0 Campeonato victory over Cruzeiro from the penalty spot.

Alas, having played well over 1,000 games for the Tricolor since making his debut in 1993, 41-year-old Ceni has already announced that the 2014-15 season is to be his last.

Quite where the next Brazilian goal-scoring set-piece specialist goalkeeper is coming from is anybody's guess -- though it's fairly safe to say it probably isn't going to be El Jaish keeper Evanildo, in case you were wondering.
