Roger Waters premiered his new documentary film about his last world tour “The Wall” at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Pink Floyd’s former front man, Roger Waters, premiered his new documentary film “The Wall”, this Saturday at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre as part of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The documentary, directed by Waters himself along with co-director Sean Evans, is the second film that has been made of the 1979 double album, “The Wall.” However unlike the Alan Parker’s film, this in not an autobiographic or narrative film.

Evans explained that Rogers wanted a completely different take, focusing on the social issues that Waters has become known for in recent years. “When Roger decided that he wanted to bring it back on the road he said, ‘I’m not that guy. I’m happy. I’m not this angry kid anymore.’ We took the meat of it and made it more about the world and building walls in society, religion and politics,” said the co-director.

Waters has become outspoken on World affairs, including making headlines for his endorsement of the boycott campaign against Israel.

“Any armed conflict is an underscore and an exclamation mark to this movie, because this movie is unashamedly anti-war, ecumenical, and about love for all men and women whatever their race, color, creed, nationality or whatever,” said Waters at the premier of the movie.

Waters celebrated his 71st birthday at the September 6 premiere in Toronto, which was also the city where his world tour kicked off four years ago.
