Radamel Falcao is NOT for sale insists Monaco boss

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim made it clear that star forward Radamel Falcao was not going anywhere. The Colombian has again been the subject of much transfer speculation, fuelled by compatriot James Rodriguez’s comments that he’d like Falcao to follow him to Real Madrid.

“At this point Falcao is our player and he’s with us 100 per cent and we don’t want to let him go,” Jardim said. “It’s a pity we lost James but we can count on Falcao staying. Regardless of what people say, he’s our player. He’s in the final stages of his recovery and he’ll be with us this season.”

Monaco lost Rodriguez for a reported £63million but they will need to retain their remaining Colombian star if they are to survive their first Champions League group stage appearance in nine years. Falcao came off the bench for Dimitar Berbatov at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with Monaco trailing Valencia 2-1 in their Emirates Cup tie.

He was playing for the first time since suffering a knee injury in January that kept him out of the World Cup. He looked fit and eager to banish that heartache with a scoring return but instead it was fellow substitute Lucas Ocampos who pulled Monaco level with 10 minutes left.

After early chances at the start of the match for Valencia, Monaco took a shock lead when defender Aymen Abdennour headed in but a Ricardo Carvalho own goal made it 1-1 at the break. Valencia went ahead through Paco Alcacer in the 69th minute but couldn’t hold onto the lead.
