Postponed IV edition of the Marathon CAF

Posted by Dubraswka Aguilar on February 17, 2014

The fourth edition of the CAF Marathon scheduled for Sunday, February 23, will be suspended until further notice, according to the organizers. The event in which are enrolled at least 10 thousand runners, will be rescheduled for a date that will be announced soon.

Event organizers took the decision to postpone the event, which would have gone over the main points of the capital city, because of the recent student demonstrations in Caracas. Below is the official statement from the organizers:

The Organising Committee of CAF Caracas Marathon informs that it has decided to postpone the 2014 edition, scheduled for Sunday, February 23, due to recent happenings in the city of Caracas that does not offer logistical feasibility and success of the event.

We regret having to take this decision, while we appreciate the understanding of all runners and national and international partners. Soon will provide information for runners on supplementary measures to be adopted.

This decision is taken owing to CAF 's commitment to preserve the quality and international standing achieved by this sporting event, its importance for Venezuela and Latin America and its values in order to promote shared citizenship, tolerance and Venezuelan and Latin American integration.
