Athletes using performance enhancing drugs have taken the spotlight in the baseball scene lately, and the MLB is trying to fix this problem by making the strictest anti-drug policies of any sport. They have already established tougher testing programs to detect human growth hormones and synthetic testosterone.

Many people have been caught using PED in the last months. Alex Rodriguez  was suspended for  211 games which means he will not play until the end of the 2014 season. Twelve other players agreed to accept 50-game suspensions from Major League Baseball: Philadelphia left-handed pitcher Antonio Bastardo, San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera, New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli, Texas outfielder Nelson Cruz, San Diego right-handed pitcher Fautino De Los Santo, Houston left-hander Sergio Escalona , Yankees outfielder Fernando Martinez , Seattle catcher Jesus Montero , free agent left-handed pitcher Jordan Norberto, Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta, New York Mets outfielder Cesar Puello and Mets utilityman Jordany Valdespin.
