Aak-Bal offers 1.5 miles of unspoiled turquoise and jade beaches and a neat sand carpet, kayaking and trips to archaeological sites like Edzná and Calakmul.

It's called Aak-Bal, which means "the source of all new things" in Mayan. This brand-new piece of paradise has 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) of unspoiled turquoise and jade beaches and a neat sand carpet.

It is located in Champotón, 45 minutes from the city of Campeche. Three hundred hectares (741 acres) of forest and mangroves welcome you at the resort, that offers kayaking and trips to archaeological sites like Edzná and Calakmul. For the more adventurous there are archaeological diving expeditions.

Aak-Bal has 40 suites with two and three bedrooms and features two specialty restaurants: Carey, that offers regional cuisine with international ingredientes, and Puesta del Sol, a seafood restaurant.

It also has three bars. If you want to leave the resort you can visit the 59th Street of Campeche, packed with restaurants, little bars, art galleries and shops.

For golf fans there is a nearby world-class course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The 18 holes are distributed around seven lakes and Mayan ruins that were discovered during the construction.

The hotel admits dogs and cats with a maximum weight of 18 kilos (39 pounds) and has special areas for children at the pool and the beach.
