Opening of the World Cup generated more Facebook comments than the Oscars

Brazil's victory over Croatia at the 2014 Brazil World Cup opening game created 58 millions of facebook publications, nearly 5 times as much as Oscar's ceremony, said this Friday the social network.

The most commented move was Neymar's goal which tied the match after a goal made by Croatia. The second most commented move was the controversial penalty which let Neymar scorer the second goal.

With 16 million of messages, Brazil was the most active country in Facebook during this Thursday match, followed by United States and England. "That number represents almost 20 times of all the World Cup stadiums capacity", said the company in a press release.

2014 Brazil World Cup is a very important business opportunity to companies like Facebook, because all the fans use the social networks to comment all the events.

The most active demographic group was men between 18 and 24 years old, said Facebook.
