Muguruza is nominated as WTA Newcomer of the month

The Spanish-Venezuelan Garbiñe Muguruza player is nominated for the WTA Newcomer of May award. 

Muguruza, 20 years old, had a great month playing on clay. After advancing to the second round in Madrid and Rome tournaments, she surprised everyone at Roland Garros in the second round after defeating the world number one, Serena Williams, by a double 6-2.

In this way, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the French Open, in which she lost to Maria Sharapova. 

Muguruza competing for the award with the Canadian Eugenie Bouchard and the Puerto Rican Monica Puig. 

Fans can vote for their favorite on the website of the WTA (www.wtatennis.com) until Thursday at midnight.
