A deserved traditional French meal for the new indoor archery world champions! It was tight… with OCHOA’s clean-sheet of 10s the key.

“We are a sunny country and hardly ever train indoors. It is quite unexpected to have such success at these Indoor Worlds, in all categories” said Mexican anchor Linda OCHOA.

Mexico trailed the United States through most of the women’s final. An aggressive second-half comeback resulted in a dramatic 234-233 comeback. All eight of OCHOA’s arrows were 10s.

“We are very relieved,” said OCHOA, Rosalia DOMINGUEZ and Brenda MERINO. “We were focused but nervous before shooting, and now very happy that we shot so well!”

“We prepared in our little bubble, without thinking too much about the USA women. We scored really high in training right before the match. In the final end, we knew if we shot the same we could beat the United States.”

The trio will now celebrate with a real French dinner here in Nimes: “We are craving crepes!”

The Mexican compound men just missed out on a medal, but the nation has another shot tomorrow when Aida ROMAN goes for individual recurve gold.

Jesse BROADWATER, Braden GELLENTHIEN and Reo WILDE retained the compound men’s title for the USA in a fistfight against Denmark. Sweden won the men’s bronze and South Africa the women’s.
