Mexican movie “Güeros” (Blondes), directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios, was presented with the Youth Prize in San Sebastián, and is still a contender in the Latino Horizons category in the LXII edition of the international movie festival.

“Güeros,” picked up by a jury formed by 200 youngsters 18 to 25-years-old, won in February the Award for a Director Opera Prima, as well as Best Cinematography, in the Berlinale, and had a Jury Mention in Tribeca.

The film is basically a road movie and a coming of age story, in the style of the French New Wave.

In the movie, “Tomás”, an unruly teen, is sent to Mexico City to live with his older brother. “Tomás” brings with him a cassette tape with the music of Epigmenio Cruz, part of his father’s inheritance.

When they find out that their idol is agonizing alone in a hospital, they begin a trip in their dilapidated car to give their last respects to the aging rockstar.

Ruizpalacios is currently in San Sebastián with producer Ramiro Ruiz and actors Leonardo Ortizgris, Tenoch Huerta, Sebastián Aguirre and Ilse Salas.
