Mexican Alayon Signs with Real Madrid

Posted by Juan Gavasa on September 23, 2014

The contract is a three-year deal worth €1.8 million per season. The news of Gustavo Ayon’s decision to sign with Spanish team Real Madrid comes after the news yesterday that FC Barcelona no longer held the Mexican big man’s rights in the ACB League.

Gustavo Ayon played for the Atlanta Hawks last season posting averages of 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 26 appearances and 14 starts. The San Antonio Spurs had formally offered Gustavo Ayon in hopes of filling their final open roster spot.

The Spurs will now have to look elsewhere to fill that final roster spot as another one of their candidates gets crossed off the list. What do you think the San Antonio Spurs should do with their final roster spot now that Gustavo Ayon has agreed to contract with Real Madrid? LEt us know in the comments!
