Malaga not release to Guillermo Ochoa

Posted by Ricardo Vázquez on October 24, 2014

Guillermo Ochoa has not played a single minute in La Liga this season, but Malaga is not considering letting the Mexico international leave in the winter transfer window, for now.

“It’s a topic that we don’t even bring up at the moment,” Malaga’s general director Vicente Casado told Mediotiempo.com in an interview published Thursday. “We still think Guillermo will fight (for his place) in every training session and then we’ll see in December.”

Casado stressed that coach Javi Gracia’s decision to play Cameroonian Carlos Kameni over Ochoa must be respected.

“He knows a lot about football and we all know that Memo has incredible ability, (but) Kameni does too,” said Casado in the same interview. “The thing is that we have two great goalkeepers.”

Malaga is enjoying a good season in La Liga so far, with 12 points from eight matches and has conceded only eight goals.

Ochoa joined the club off the back of an exceptional World Cup for Mexico and it looked as though he was brought in as the starter, although Kameni has so far played every minute of the season so far and has a wealth of experience in La Liga.

The Mexican has only played in two official games since Mexico exited Brazil 2014 on June 29, both in friendlies for the national team.
