James Rodriguez Will Miss Club World Cup

Colombian attacker James Rodriguez will miss Real Madrid's Club World Cup campaign as he recovers from a calf injury, according to boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The competition starts in midweek and is taking place in Morocco over a ten day period, with Real's first match coming on December 16th in the semi-finals. They will play against the winners of CONCACAF Champions League victors Cruz Azul and Asian champion Western Sydney Wanderers.

But Rodriguez, who has appeared in every match for the European champions so far this season, will likely not play a part after picking up this injury against Celta Vigo at the weekend.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said: “I don’t think James will be able to play. Calf injuries take a while to heal; it’s difficult to see him recovering in time.”
