Jamaica sends largest trade mission ever to Cuba

A trade mission representing 18 Jamaican companies visited Cuba on Monday to promote products in that market, a Jamaican Promotions Corporation official told Efe in a phone interview.

"The response we have received from the Cuban Embassy and Cuban government representatives has been outstanding. They believe in cementing a Jamaican and Cuban trading relationship, and we are happy to have them working with us to bring Jamaican products to their market," JAMPRO president Diane Edwards said in a statement.

Edwards has worked with Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica Bernardo Hernandez Guanche to organize meetings with potential Cuban clients and partners.

JAMPRO's "largest trade mission to Cuba in its history" is being led by Investment and Trade Minister Anthony Hylton and the presidents of the Jamaica Exporters' Association and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce are among the members, Edwards said.

Berger Paints Jamaica Ltd., Caribbean Cement Company Limited and Digicel Group are among the companies represented in the mission.

The mission's visit is scheduled to end on Thursday.
