Completing a perfect run, the Brazilian FIVB Hero helped her team mates claim Brazil’s second gold medal in the FIVB’s Grand Champions Cup! Fellow FIVB Hero Saori Kimura ended up taking the bronze medal!

The fans in Japan witnessed a brilliant performance from the Brazilian team throughout the whole tournament. FIVB Hero Sheilla Castro led Brazil to five wins in five games, winning two MVP awards –in the opening game against the Americans and in the decisive match against Japan on the last day of competition.

After beating USA (26-24, 26-24, 25-20), Thailand (25-18, 25-17, 25-17), the Dominican Republic (25-20, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19) – when Sheilla was the best scorer of the game with 20 points – and Russia (18-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19), Brazil needed only two sets against the home team to clinch the title. And they did it, overcoming Japan 3-0 (29-27, 25-14, 25-16).

With that result, the Brazilian star helped her national team to make history as the first team to ever claim the Grand Champions Cup twice. The Olympic and South American champions closed 2013 winning all tournaments they’ve participated in, ensuring their first place in FIVB’s ranking.
