"Estrellas Orientales" Baseball Team History

Posted by Aimee Flores Jiminian on August 20, 2013

The Oriental Stars or Eastern Stars as their name is translated into English, originated in 1910 and has been around almost for as long as the Licey Tigers.

Their headquarters are located at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís. Also the province San Pedro de Macorís is where the majority of Dominican Major League Baseball players come from.

In their sports history players such as Alfredo Griffin, Ricardo Carty, Julio Cesar Franco, Pedro Julio Astacio, Armando Benitez, Bienvenido Rivera, Rafael - El Gallo - Batista, all come from San Pedro de Macorís and have all played for Las Estrellas. However, even if San Pedro de Macorís is the main exporter of MLB players, The Stars have only conquered two crowns in their lifetime.
