On the second test day for the operation of electronic money, the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE for its Spanish acronym) reported that a total of 161 accounts were opened and already achieved major transactions such as payments and recharges of money with this financial system.

This process takes place in a controlled manner in Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, , Ambato and Portoviejo, with the partition of 600 people. The Manager of the BCE Mateo Villalva said recently that the pilot scheme will serve to measure the effectiveness of the technologic platformdeveloped by the financial institution and, if it necessary, make the necessary adjustments the system requires.

He also indicated that the results of the test will determine if the use of electronic money officially begins in December.
