Eduardo Álvarez: "The venezuelan delegation hopes to be at the Top 3 of this games"

Venezuela will try to be at the top three of the Southamerican Beach Games 2014, said this tuesday the Venezuelan Olympic Committee president (COV, its spanish acronym), Eduardo Álvarez, during the presentation of the event.

"Venezuela hopes to be at the top three of this games, this is our projection", said Álvarez at the press conference held in the headquarters of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee in El Paraíso, Caracas.

The third edition of the Southamerican Beach Games will start in may 14. The president of the Venezuelan Clympic Committee said there will be competitions every day, and there will be three events at the same time. He even said that the may 22 it will be in action five different disciplines. 

Eduardo Álvarez said that the venezuelan delegation has 102 athletes and Argentina will have 107 -the largest delegation of all countries-. Bolivia will be at the games with 11 athletes, Brazil with 39, Chile with 25, Colombia with 40, Guyana with 26, Panamá with 2, Paraguay with 28, Suriname with 7 and Uruguay with 53 athletes.

The venezuelan delegation is formed by 7 athletes in open waters, 4 athletes in thriatlon, 9 athletes in sailing, 8 athletes in beach volleyball, 6 athletes in waterskiing, 12 athletes in beach soccer, 12 athletes in surf, 20 athletes in handball, 20 athletes in beach rugby, 6 athletes in beach tennis, for a big total of 62 men and 40 women. 

The athletes Erwin Maldonado (open waters), Daniel Flores (sailing), Juan Méndez (waterskiing) and Ramón guédez (beach tennis) are the candidates to carry the venezuelan flag, said Álvarez.

The inauguration will start at may 14 in the Hugo Chávez Arena at 7:00pm. The venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, will attend to this event.
