Ecuador won the gold in open water competition at III South American Beach Games

The national team composed by Diego Vera, Liliana Hernández and the Olympic athlete Erwin Maldonado, won a place in the open water final competition this Thursday at the third edition of 2014 South American Beach Games, Vargas.

The Venezuelans make a time mark of 39 minutes, 18 second and 5 milliseconds (39:05.18) at Camurí Grande in 3 kilometers route. 

The Ecuadorian team, composed of Esteban Enderica, Santiago Enderica y Samatha Arévalo, was the winner team of this trial after completes the route with a 37:23.46 time mark. 

The silver medal was for Argentina with a time mark of 38:28:24. Brazil completed the top three with a time mark of 38:30.40

With this competition concluded the open waters calendar at this 2014 South American beach Games. Venezuela is still leading the general chart with 7 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, for a total of 19 medals. 

In second place is Brazil with 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 2 bronze medals (14 medals), followed by Argentina with 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 9 bronze medals (19 medals).

Ecuador completes this medal ranking with 9 medals (4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals), Colombia is in the fifth position with 7 medals ( 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals), followed by Chile with 4 medals (1 gold medal and 3 bronze medals), Peru with 2 medals (1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal), Uruguay has 3 medals (1 silver medals and 2 bronze medals), and Paraguay comes in last place with just one bronze medal.
