Ecuador is a low cost destination according to Cepal

The tourist arrivals increases economic incomes in Ecuador but the country is still behind its region competitors. This was one of the results included in the Cepal report about the touristic scenario of Ecuador at 2013. 

At the region, countries like Colombia, Costa Rica and Chile are above Ecuador in economic incomes due the tourism. This report also indicates that the visitors of Ecuador mostly come from Colombia y Peru. 

Álvaro Calderón, a consultant from Cepal, said that other of these results was Ecuador has two big attractive for the tourists, the cultural and natural richness. The last one is the most important international touristic attraction.

Calderón also said that Ecuador is known to be a low cost destination. "This is more like an advantage than a disadvantage". However, he said that the country is at the 18th place of the international touristic destination.

Manuel Navia, Assistant Secretary of Touristic Investment, said that the target of this product is to become in "one of the principal tools to place Ecuador as a tourist destination".
