Ecuador to face Trinidad and Tobago in women's WC trial heat

Ecuador's national women's football team Thursday prepared for its upcoming trial heat match against Trinidad and Tobago for a chance to compete in the 2015 Canada Women's World Cup.

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) said the team posed for the official photo at the national team's headquarters in Quito, where the players are training for Saturday's match at Atahualpa Olympic Stadium.

Saturday's game will be followed by a second-leg match at Hasely Crawford Stadium in the Trinidadian capital of Port of Spain on Dec. 2.

Ecuador qualified for the trial heat after taking third place at the 2014 Copa America Femenina championship, which it hosted in September, while Trinidad and Tobago secured its ticket by coming in fourth at the pre-World Cup games organized by regional football body Concacaf (Confederation of North, central American and Caribbean Association Football).

The Ecuadorian team was in a private training session Thursday, while their rivals were already in the southwestern Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, preparing for the game.

On Friday, the Trinidadians were to travel to Quito, to acclimate to the high altitude (2,850 meters above sea level).
