A Columbian entrepreneur wins INTALent with his musical platform Stereotheque

The Columbian Tomás Uribe and his project Stereotheque won first prize in INTALent, a competition for innovators from creative industries organized by the Institute for the Integration of Latin America (INTAL) at the Inter-American Development Bank (IABD) and the publication MIT Technology Review, Spanish Edition to promote the orange economy, or in other words the economic sector associated with cultural industries. The competition boasted 700 applicants from the IABD signatory countries and 60 judges from across the continent who evaluated the projects submitted.

Uribe, en entrepreneur that studied music in Bogotá (Colombia) and media management in the United States, won 10,000 USD and a trip to attend Emtech, MIT Technology Review´s emerging technologies conference celebrated in Boston (United States). The originality, innovation and commercial contribution were key to the success of Uribe´s project Stereotheque, a multimedia platform that allows users to browse music, learn about artists and how music has evolved in a particular location over time.

The Argentinian computer scientist Emanual Vilte obtained second place at INTALent, which includes a trip to Washington, D.C. (United States) to compete in the Idear Soluciones competition, which will select the best start-up on the continent. Vilte is the creator of Linguoo, a platform that offers audio articles narrated in English and Spanish by a global community of almost 160 narrators from different countries like Mexico, the United States, Denmark, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia and more. With over 8,500 articles, Linguoo is used in 90 countries by 30.000 registered users.

The photograph titled "From Another Planet" by the Argentinian Adrián Feferbaum Siemsen was awareded a 2,000 USD cash prize for placing first in the Special Category: Photograpy of Climate Change.

These winners will present their projects during the Innovators Under 35 Argentina and Uruguay 2016 awards ceremony that will take place in Buenos Aires (Argentina) next September 23rd.
