A lawyer is suing World Cup organisers Fifa for a whopping £800million – after saying that bad refereeing at the tournament made him ill.

Aurelio Jimenez, a leading legal expert, says he was taken to hospital with cardiac problems after Brazil’s controversial win over Colombia last month.

He says that he was left ‘distressed’ because referee Carlos Velasco Carballo failed to give Colombia enough of the decisions, and he wants to cash as compensation. The 74-year-old is confident of willing his battle and told the BBC he has ‘serious evidence of wrongdoings’ and is already working on gathering witnesses. Yep.

‘Fifa’s referees caused big moral damages and distress,’ Jimenez explained. ‘There were many wrongdoings related to referees who damaged many countries, among them the Colombia team.

‘I was heartbroken, my cardiac rhythm was altered and my relatives were crying after taking me to the emergency room.’
