Paraguayan Deportivo Capiatá caused a stir by defeating Boca Juniors 1-0 as a visitor, in a game for the first leg of the knockout stages of the 2014’s Copa Sudamericana, played on Wednesday night at the La Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires.

The defender Lisandro Magallán (44) scored the winning goal for the historic triumph of the modest Guarani team, gaining them three vital points and a great home advantage during the second game of the series which will allow them to advance to the quarterfinals even if ending with a draw.

The rematch game will be played on October 23rd at the Feliciano Caceres Stadium in the City of Luque, and the winner of this series will face in the quarterfinals the winner of the junction between Argentina’s Lanus and Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño, with partial current advantage to the Guarani team with a 2 -1 win in the 1st game of that series.

For their part, Argentina’s Boca will need to win the game by the slightest of margins in order to decide the series with a shootout, or win outright with a two goal difference from their opponent to turn the series and move to the quarterfinals.
