Barbados claims Super50 title

Posted by Shanelle Weir on February 18, 2014

Trinidad and Tobago’s Rayad Emrit was run out in the 46th over for the 10th Barbados wicket 15 February as the visitors clinched the 2014 Nagico Super50 title.

Trailing by 17 runs with 31 balls remaining, Emrit went for the third but was beaten by a half-step and Barbados won by 17 runs.

We’re famous for making our fans, I don’t know, hold their bellies and cry,” Barbados bowler Carlos Brathwaite said. “Tonight and last year and years to come, it’s a new Barbados. It’s a new Barbados, people, and we come to win everything.”

Up next for regional cricket — the West Indies host Ireland in a limited-overs series starting 19 February.
