Antonio Pardo Debuts in Sochi This Wednesday

The Venezuelan Antonio Pardo competes this Wednesday at 11:00 am Russian time (2:30 am Venezuelan time) in the first round of Alpine skiing, in the discipline of giant slalom, when he will try to thread in the defining step, in the struggle for medals at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

Pardo had to overcome various adversities, especially enrolling in the competition as the Venezuelan Federation of Alpine Skiing, which he founded, is still in the process of recognition by the IOC. Venezuela took a place in giant slalom when getting the position 45 in the race in St. Moritz (Switzerland), where Pardo earned 135.82 points.

Prior to his debut, the athlete expressed his expectations for the race through his personal Twitter account (@antoniopardoski).

“I’m focused on training and the race, but with my heart in Venezuela. There are only a few hours left and conditions are difficult but we Venezuelans are used to challenges and I will give all my best," he said.

Pardo, 43, is the fifth Venezuelan in history to qualify for the Olympic Winter Games.
