Albert Subirats won 50 Fly trial at Charlotte's Grand Prix

While the big guns like Michael Phelps and Allison Schmitt have been getting the most publicity in their returns to the sport Venezuelan Olympic Albert Subirats is also on the comeback trail since moving to train at Auburn. Last night, he topped the men's 50-meter fly at the Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte. 

Subirats missed the top 20 in the world, but still managed to win in 24.00. Bolles' Joseph Schooling just missed his Singapore record of 24.06 with a second-place time of 24.11. Kristian Gkolomav earned third in 24.15. 

Eugene Godsoe (24.25), Tim Phillips (24.35), Michael Andrew (24.36), Pavel Sankovich (24.36) and Cullen Jones (24.52) comprised the rest of the championship finale. 

Sean Fletcher clinched the B final win in 24.42 with Mario Todorovic placing second in 24.44. Mark Weber (24.54) and Miguel Ortiz (24.70) wound up third and fourth in the heat. Matthew Josa (24.71), Soeren Dahl (24.91), Brad deBorde (24.99) and Elvis Burrows (25.14) captured the rest of the top times in the B final.
