"Aguilas Cibaeñas" Baseball Team History

Posted by Aimee Flores Jiminian on August 20, 2013

The Eagles from the Cibao region (Northern region of the Dominican Republic) were founded in January 28th, 1937 with their home at the Cibao Stadium in the city of Santiago.

This has been the only team where their faithful bigleaguers play for the full MLB season and the local one as well instead of waiting until the end of the Championship to see them play as is the case for the other teams.

Tony Peña would play for an entire season in the Dominican Republic after 150 games or more in MLB and getting th Golden Glove award for catchers.

Also Luis Polonia, Winston Chilote Llenas, Felix Fermin among many others.

In their sports history these players are listed: Roberto Peña, Julian Javier, Miguel Diloné, Chilote Llenas, Franklin Taveras, Tomas Silverio, Victor Ramirez, Tony Peña, Luis Polonia, Stanley Javier, and Felix Fermin.

The Eagles have won 20 Championships and 5 Caribbean Series.
