2014 Visionary Award Recipient Announced for the Vision Showcase Awards 2014

The Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce - THCC, announced that Roberto Alomar has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Visionary Award. This award is given annually to a Hispanic leader in recognition to his contribution to our community.

“We are honored to have Roberto Alomar as the2014 Visionary Award recipient, known as Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, Roberto is also making an impact in shaping the future of young athletes through his foundation and the Jays Care initiative”, said Manuel Rodriguez, president of the THCC.

The Vision Showcase Awards is attended by over 200 top Latino entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals annually. The selected venue, the CBC Glenn Gould Studio, will provide the perfect environment for representatives of provincial government and companies that wish to connect with Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals.

This year TLN’s Host, Ivan Wanis Ruiz, will be the Master of Ceremony

Ivan Wanis Ruiz has over 15 years of public speaking experience. He regularly teaches public speaking communication skill throughout Canada and is the author of "They Don't Have to be Naked: A New Approach to Public Speaking".

When he is not teaching communication skills he is entertaining crowds as a sought after event host.  Most recently having hosted Salsa on Blue Mountain, Salsa on St. Clair as well as several other private event.  He is a graduate of The Second City Improv program and a trained actor having been featured in Psyche, Covert Affairs, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes to name a few.

Spanish Singer Laura Fernandez, will bring her version of Latin jazz to the stage.

Born in Madrid, Spain, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada: singer, sognwriter, pianist, music producer, painter, award-winning illustrator and designer, radio host/producer. She will be performing during the Awards. To Learn more about Laura, please visit:

Sean Bellaviti a leading figure in Canada's world and Latin music scenes, Sean Bellaviti brings his eclectic version of Latin jazz to the small stage for an intimate performance. About Roberto Alomar

Following in his father’s footsteps, Roberto studied the game of baseball from a young age, reaching the Major Leagues in 1988. Although he played for numerous teams, Roberto will always be remembered for the back-to-back World Series Championships that he helped the Toronto Blue Jays win.

Currently, Roberto is working on developing his charity, the Roberto Alomar Foundation, as well as devoting time to the Toronto Blue Jays organization as a special assistant.
