12 Venezuelan weightlifters are classified to Toronto 2015

Venezuelan weightlifting delegation obtained 12 tickets, 7 in masculine category and 5 in feminine category, to the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, after their participation in the continental championship in this discipline, held last week at Dominican Republic. 

This classification to Pan American Games depended on the results actually achieved by the different countries in this competition by each team, both on feminine and on masculine, in two events: the last Pan American Game held in Margarita Island, Venezuela 2013 and the continental championship held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, said through a press release the Venezuelan Weightlifters Federation (known in spanish as Fevepesas).

Venezuela obtained the third place in masculine category with 338 points, and achieved a total of 7 places in Pan American Games Toronto 2015. Cuban delegation won the first place with 402 points, followed by Colombia with 370 points, to complete the top three countries which will have the highest number of athletes in Canada. 

Venezuela arrived to the competition with two guaranteed tickets to Pan American date, and after the Santo Domingo championship's victory, Venezuela has 5 quotas to Toronto 2015. The Venezuelan delegation won the second place at the continental championship, to earn a total of 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 1 bronze medal (165 points). That number help them to be at a good place on the general ranking.

The Venezuelan masculine delegation was formed by Julio Mayora (62 kg), Edwar Vásquez (69 kg), Junior y Rául Sánchez (77 kg), Herbys Márquez (94 kg), Danilo Pirela (94 kg), Jesús González (105 kg) and Yoel Morales (105 kg).

The Venezuelan feminine delegation was formed by María Sierra (53 kg), Yusleidy Figueroa (58 kg), Dayana Chirinos (69 kg), Mileidy Albarrán (75 Kg), Yarvanis Herrera (75 kg), Yaniuska Espinosa (+75 kg) y Naryury Pérez (+75 kg).

The 26st edition of the Pan American Weightlifting Championship ended with a total of 17 medals to Venezuela: five gold medals, 7 silver medals and 5 bronze medals.
